Connemara Mountains

Connemara, Co. Galway

Although not a mountain in itself, the Connemara skies are dominated by over 50 magnificent mountains in 4 tightly packed mountain ranges: the Twelve Bens, Maum Turks, Partry and Sheffrey.

Described as the ‘Alps in Miniature’, these rugged mountains with quartzite peaks rise dramatically from the sea and offer the walker all the options needed for that mountain getaway. Connemara has always been a favourite destination for walkers with its wild and forbidding scenery.

From the relatively moderate walk up Diamond Hill in the National Park, to the pilgrimage route of St. Patrick that leads you to the pinnacle of Mam Ean, the variety and the views are endless.
