Donegal Golf Club

Murvagh, County Donegal

In designing Donegal Golf Club at Murvagh, legendary golfing architect Eddie Hackett observed his great dictum "I only dress up what the Good Lord provides". Knowing that the great Championship Links of these islands are laid out on what nature provides, Eddie laid out his design on Murvagh's natural terrain with the least possible disturbance. The course is presented in two loops of nine where the fairways wend their way by the Atlantic Dunees and the sage green grasses of the bay.

As a result of Hackett's handiwork, Donegal Golf Club is continually featured in Golf World magazine's Top 100 courses in Ireland and Great Britain, and continues to evolve into one of Ireland's finest links courses. The members of Donegal Golf Club are proud of such distinctions and pleased to share it with visitors.

Our Take

This course for big hitters, one of the few links courses where you can routinely reach for your driver with confidence. Golfers will enjoy scoring well on this course. You can definitely score on it and that is what I loved about it. It was more forgiving having wider fairways which allowed you to hit the ball that little bit harder than usual. It has been recently redesigned which has increased its attractiveness but also seems to have increased the number of bunkers. Overall, we enjoyed our day, scored well and recommend it especially for those long hitters.
