
Although whiskey is no longer made there, the Jameson Distillery is where the Jameson family first produced its famed ambrosia. From from 1780 until 1971 the facilities were in operation. The site is now a dedicated whiskey interpretative centre. The visit starts with a video, Uisce Beatha (the water of life); the claims of the tour guides that with Ireland being the birthplace of distilling and with all Irish whiskeys being distilled a total of three times, once more than Scotch, the result is a smoother palate can be put to the test at the end of the tour- the tasting!
