The Island hosted the Irish qualifying course for the Open Championship in 2005, the Ladies Amateur Close Championship and the European Youth Amateur Championship were hosted in 2004.
The Island Golf Club was voted Golf Course of the Year by Ireland's Golf Tour Operators Association.
