Ring of Kerry Golf Club

Kenmare, County kerry

The architectural brief was to design a 'world class' golf course that is sufficiently flexible to challenge competent and experienced players from the back teeing areas, yet be capable of being played and enjoyed by the average handicap player from middle and forward teeing areas. The brief also included that the golf course be to a standard capable of hosting smaller professional golf events, both Irish and European.

One of the late Eddie Hackett's last design projects, the Ring of Kerry Golf & Country Club is without doubt the most spectacular parkland golf course in Ireland and is acclaimed by many as the finest new course in the country. The Killarney courses are beautiful but Ring of Kerry is simply majestic. Overlooking beautiful Kenmare Bay, the golf course nestles between the towering MacGillycuddy Reeks and the Caha Mountains. Majesty alone of course does not make a great golf course. The scenery helps but it's the layout, stiff challenge and excellent greens that make Ring of Kerry Golf Club one of the finest new golf courses in Ireland.

Our Take

Quite apart from the excellent golfing challenge, this is a course you would play for the scenery alone. Perfect as a venue if you are looking for a parkland layout to allow recovery from the demands of the links game.
