Ballyliffin Golf Club

Ballyliffin, County Donegal

For years Ballyliffin has claimed title as Ireland's ultimate hidden gem. Golfers who experienced Ballyliffin would speak of it only in whispers. Remotely located on the spectacular Inishowen Peninsula, Ballyliffin seemed destined to dwell in splendid isolation. But in 1993, Golfing legend Nick Faldo discovered Ballyliffin and, bowled over by its beauty and the natural contours of its landscape, took on the assignment to design a second 18 holes. The resulting Glashedy Links are every bit as sensational as the Old Links. So in Ballyliffin golfers have 36 holes to savour-- two outstanding and contrasting links courses. Ballyliffin, this veritable "Ballybunion of the North," stands among the very best golfing experiences in the world.

Our Take

Set in the far reaches of the Inishowen Peninsula, Ballyliffin happens to be one of our sentimental favorites. To play a round in Ballyliffin is to experience links golf at its finest. The remote setting, windswept landscape, stunning views of the sea from almost every hole, the craggy mountains nearby. All serve to satiate the senses. You may battle the elements but you will love Ballyliffin!
