Happy Wanderers - Guided Tour of Wicklow Itinerary

Day One

  • Pickup at Dublin Airport at 1.00pm and transfer to your accommodation in the Laragh.


  • Take a leisurely afternoon walk to get acquainted with the area.


Day Two

  • Follow the old Green Road along the lower slopes of Derrybawn Mountain, through a forest of Oak and Beach and onto the Wicklow Way.


  • Visit Glendalough and St. Kevin's Round Tower.


  • Descend into the Glenealo Valley to the see the deserted Miners Village and lakes.


  • Distance: 11.5 km/7.2 miles. Ascent: 410m/1230ft


Day Three

  • Join the Wicklow Way trail north into the valley of Glenmacnass and onto the side of Paddock Hill.


  • Venture to the summit of Scarr Mountain, overlooking Wicklow's largest lake-Lough Dan.


  • Descend into the valley of Lough Dan and re-join the Wicklow Way.


  • Distance: 15 km/9.4 miles. Ascent: 500m/1500ft


Day Four

  • Travel to the Ballard Forest and onto Trooperstown Mountain.


  • Visit Vale, the smallest village in Irelandand lunch on the banks of the Avonmore River


  • Walk through an open Oak Forest into the town of Rathdrum.


  • Distance: 12Km/7.5 miles Height Gain: 240m/ 600ft


Day Five

  • Walk Ireland's coast from Wicklow Town to Greystones--flanked by the Irish Sea on the right, and wetlands to the left.


  • Distance: 18Km, 11 miles, Ascent, practically none


Day Six

  • Begin in the village of Donard.


  • Walk up the slopes of Church Mountain and join a trail that leads us to the summit.


  • Hike up the Corriebracks, a peak covered in blanket bog.


  • Our next summit is Lowbawn and finally Sugarloaf before returning back to Donard.


  • Distance: 16.5 Km, 10.5 miles, Ascent 680 Mtrs, 2040 Ft


Day Seven

  • Hike the Wicklow Way into the valley of Glendalough for a visit of its famous Monastic City.


  • Visit the Vale of Avoca and the Avoca Woolen Mills.


  • Distance, approximately 10Km, 6 miles, Ascent, none


Day Eight

  • Depart from Dublin at 12.30pm
